Starting conversations and group chats, message requests, archiving, voice notes, photos and read receipts.
Where to find it: Messages tab → the new message button
Pick a person to start a direct chat, or select several to start a group chat.

Where to find it: Messages tab → Requests
Messages from people you are not connected to land here rather than in your main inbox, so your inbox stays to people you know. Accepting a request moves the conversation across.

Where to find it: Messages tab → Archived
Conversations you have archived to get them out of your main inbox — swipe a chat left and tap Archive, or long-press it and choose Archive chat. They are not deleted, and a new message brings the conversation back.

Where to find it: In a chat, the microphone and photo buttons
Hold the microphone to record a voice note, or use the photo button to send images. You can send several photos at once.

Where to find it: Settings → Privacy → Read receipts
If you turn read receipts off, you will not send or see them. Group chat reads are always shown regardless of this setting.
